Two Types of Metal Siding:

Steel Siding

Steel siding is one of the most durable types of siding. It is the most time-consuming to install because of the technical procedures that are required by the manufacturer to maintain the warranty. We recommend using only highly experienced crews like Sundown Exteriors. After all, the last thing you want to hear after investing in metal siding is that it needs to be redone due to improper installation. Compared to other types of metal siding, steel siding typically will hold its original appearance the longest.

Aluminum Siding

Aluminum siding was the most popular siding offered in our region in the 1960’s through the 1980’s until vinyl siding was introduced. This product is becoming obsolete due to the high cost with less benefits of the more modern products offered. This exterior siding is more susceptible to damage from minor impact.

Architectural Shingles

Architectural shingles are the most common type of shingle in today’s industry. Most architectural shingles automatically provide a lifetime warranty, although they do vary in weight. We highly recommend researching different shingle types, warranties, and any gray areas of exclusions in your guarantee that may apply.

One of the reasons that architectural shingles are the most popular type of asphalt shingle roofing is because it offers a more durable solution for roof installations and roof replacements.

Architectural shingles, also referred to as dimensional shingles, offer a more durable material because of their multi-dimensional texture and because the installation process involves creating several layers of shingles.

This type of shingle roofing will last approximately 30 years but, as we mentioned, many have a lifetime warranty. Architectural shingles are a great option for a homeowner who wants a more aesthetically pleasing roof design and appearance. The durability of these shingles compared to others also makes them worth the investment.
